If you're like me, a twinge of guilt runs through you when comfort and convenience outweigh your love of cycling and on a cold or wet day you grab your car keys instead of your bike lock. Everyone knows that crucial and decisive moment - you peer outside and instead of a world of sunshine and green grass, the threat of rain and cloudy skies loom. Well I'm here to tell you that all is not lost! Beat that mental head game and enjoy your ride rain or shine by realizing that with a few extra pieces of clothing and gear, you'll be riding in comfort soon.
A group called Bike Winter teamed up with Street Films to make this great video. Bike Winter is an all-volunteer, grassroots project that began in Chicago in 1999, and has since spread to other cities and towns that boast proper seasons. They are bicycle commuters, weekend warriors and pro-bike activists united in a shared belief that every day is a great day to ride a bike.
Here at Bikestation we want to encourage the casual cyclists as well as seasoned road warriors by providing information and resources from the mundane to the outrageous. Not every ride is going to be the same from coast to coast, nor is every day is going to be a sunny one but with a little knowledge and mental fortitude you can rule the road safely.
