Traffic Skills 101 curriculum covers everything from bike selection to simple maintenance to fixing a flat, to strategies for riding a bike safely and confidently. It is taught to very small classes (generally 5 to 10 students), in two sessions: 2 hours on a Wednesday evening and 3 hours on a Saturday. The Wednesday evening session is classroom work; the Saturday session is in two parts: parking lot safety drills, and a ride through Long Beach streets under the eye of one or more instructors. Instructors are all League Certified Instructors (from the League of American Cyclists).
* Classes are FREE for CSULB students and employees. For all others, there is a suggested donation of $20, which includes free membership to the Long Beach Cyclists + $5 JAX Bike Bucks.
Even if you can't make it to the class, visit Bike Long Beach.org for great information on checking your bike, getting ready to ride, bicycle maintenance, safety and security and much much more!
